San Jose @ Columbus.

Pre-game info:

SAN JOSE: Deadlocked with Vancouver for first place in the Western Conference (9-5-0). The Sharks are on a 3 game winning streak with a +10 goal differential.

COLUMBUS: One point behind the Canucks and Sharks for first place in the Western conference having played 2 fewer games than either team (8-3-1). Goal differential is +3

There is some SERIOUS playoff positioning going on in this game. Columbus, with a regulation win would jump into first place in the West with 2 games in hand.

Going in I already know how my teammates play and I’m pretty happy about that. I get along with them just fine and I know they are solid players.

Put on the foil and here we go!

The first period was as defensive a period as you can get with the shots at 7-5 in favor of the Sharks. There were really no major scoring chances.

The Sharks got a pair of goals midway through the 2nd after a couple nice passes, but a very sloppy goal from Fredrik Modin made it 2-1 Sharks.

The third period put the Jackets shorthanded a couple times and while it didn’t cost us, we lacked scoring chances because of it. With about 5 minutes left, I kept the puck in the zone, skated behind the net with Vyborny and eventually found a wide open Sergei Fedorov whom Epikon was controlling. He managed to bury a goal to tie it up.

Into OT we went and into a Shootout we went. Remember my last game when Irish scored on all three shootout attempts? Well unfortunately I was shooting. I only scored once and did so with my first shooter Rick Nash. The Sharks made two so we had to settle for a single standings point.

Overall probably the most fun I’ve had playing for this team. Both Epikon and Irish played well and I thought our passing was decent. We still have two games in hand on the Sharks so as long as we win one of those, we are tied for first.

Myself, Epikon and Jcon will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow night.
